Bringing a Switchblade to a Gun Fight – Jay White joins Bullet Club OG

The search is over! Bullet Club OGs have welcomed three new members to the group. The reinforcements were made recently at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s King of Pro Wrestling event. Japanese legends Gedo, and Jado along with “Switchblade” Jay White were recruited during an attack that was instigated on Kazuchika Okada by BCOGs Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and Taiji Ishimori. Jado, Gedo, and White cemented their place in the club when they joined in and celebrated afterwards.

Following the ‘clubs activity’ on the popular Okada; Fale and Tama took to their Twitter accounts to further embrace their new brothers. The addition of Jay White to the OGs holds great significance, as Fale shared a tweet which shows a photo taken years ago of him and White in London posing next to each other. The photo comes with Fale’s explanation that White’s involvement was a plan put in place four years earlier when Bullet Club founder, Prince Devitt brought the two New Zealanders together.

NJPW English speaking commentator Kevin Kelly made reference to the Fale-White connection during their match at the G1 Climax tournament in August, and the story was also confirmed by Fale himself. While starting his career in England, White made contact with Devitt who left his contact details with White before heading back to Japan. Upon Devitt’s return to Japan, he told Fale about the young Switchblade. Devitt’s recommendation led Fale to London where he met with White, and from that meeting, Fale made the endorsement for Jay White to train at the NJPW Dojo.

Jay White is one of three New Zealanders competing on the New Japan roster. His experience includes wrestling in Ring of Honor where he spent a year honing his skills as part of his foreign excursion with the New Japan Dojo. White captured his first title when he defeated Kenny Omega to win the IWGP United States Championship at the New Beginnings event on 28 January. Omega also attempted to recruit White to join Bullet Club, but he declined and joined the Chaos group instead. Six months down the line, White is now a member of the Bullet Club, the side that aligns with cultural values and loyalty. Jay White remembers the support shown to him by Fale in London, and the opportunities that led him to NJPW.
